The strength of our apprenticeship program comes from the expertise, dedication and real-world experience of our instructors. Each member of our instructional team brings a unique skill set and a shared commitment to developing the next generation of highly skilled union electricians.

Bob Appleby
Role: Instructor

Brian Gildea

Steve Konopke

On Teaching: “I was asked. I learned a lot about it and felt I was good at it. When I became an instructor, it made me better and I was able to teach these guys. I do this on the job and it’s really fun.”

Scott Kozakas

Get to know the professionals guiding your journey at IBEW Local 163 JATC:

John Nadolny
Role: Director
Experience: Modernizing apprenticeship training through hands-on labs, blended learning, manufacturer partnerships, and advanced instruction in solar, EV infrastructure, and AI data center work
Electrician Since: 1995
Background: Began as a 5th-Year Instructor before leading the program’s expansion

Robert Miller
Role: Lead Instructor
Specialty: Rigging, Basic Life Support First Aid/CPR, IR Scanning, Confined Space, Basic Wiring, Leadership, Construction Documentation, Torque, Job Information, Distributed Generation, Code Classes, Fire Alarm Systems
Electrician Since: 2009
Background: General Contracting, Heavy Equipment Operator, Assistant Fire Chief at Hobbie Fire Company. Out in the field, worked on various different projects from hospitals, schools, stadiums and water parks. Specialized in new construction out of the ground and renovation work. Former road superintendent, managed many large projects at a time with large crews before coming to the JATC full time.

Liam Truskowski

Heidi McDaniels
Role: Administrative Assistant
Background: 25+ years in banking, including mortgages, consumer loans, and 15 years as a Teller, Head Teller, and Customer Service Representative
Community Involvement: EMT and Firefighter for over 25 years, volunteering in her local communities
On Joining the Team: Learning every aspect of the JATC and supporting staff, instructors, and apprentices to keep daily operations running smoothly

Our instructors are committed to providing apprentices with the technical knowledge, hands-on skills and professional guidance necessary for a successful career in the electrical industry. Through their expertise and mentorship, they ensure that every apprentice receives the highest standard of training, rooted in the values and traditions of IBEW Local 163.
